Making Courageous Decisions, Why It’s A Game Changer
I've been talking a lot lately about what goes on up in your noggin. Mindset, your thought life and what all of this means for your business. Have you been sticking with me?
There is a reason for it—hands down THE number one thing that holds you back from taking informed and inspired action on the areas that you need to in your business is the stuff that goes on between your ears.
And I get the feeling that people get a bit tired of hearing that. I mean it's everywhere at the moment, the online world is covered with content telling you what to do to grow your business. I do it too.
So what I've been trying to do is show you how you can become the most empowered version of yourself so that you are able to make the right decisions for yourself.
There are all sorts of advice on the internet on how you should run a business. However, not all the tactics work on everyone.
What you need to be able to do is to make informed decisions, which come from knowing your business and having a strategy in place.
And when you think that a tactic is not going to work for your business, you need to make courageous decisions.
As a business owner, you have the power to make decisions, and sometimes that can be scary. You would have fears about what the results would be, about not hitting your goals, or about what other people might think of you.
Fear can be paralyzing, so you need to have the courage to make a move, otherwise, you are delaying the success of your business.
You need to have to change the way you think, much like how you have changed your mindset when you start having a child.
Being a mum means dealing with a lot of demands, and sometimes you just have to follow your instincts when looking after your kids. Having a business is almost the same.
Here are three main things you need to be courageous about when you are running a business:
1. Say “no” to things
More often than not, it is easier to say yes to things than to say no. Especially when you have a business, you may often say yes or accept things all at once because you feel like you need to hustle that much.
Unfortunately, doing so may give you the opposite results. That’s why it is important that you recognize the things you should say no to, as well as the things that you should say yes to.
Know when you are sacrificing too much (time, money, mum life) or when you are undermining your capability to earn money (not making enough investments or using the tools, etc.).
2. Trust yourself as the CEO
Being able to make courageous decisions comes from being confident. You need to trust yourself as the CEO of your business. No one’s going to make the decision for you. Trust that even if your decision turned out to be a mistake, it is still an essential part of your business’ growth.
Fear of making a step can keep your business stuck and therefore not making money. Mistakes give you learning, and they help you grow as an individual and as a business owner.
3. Recognize that you need help
Don’t be a control freak. Sure, doing everything can help you save money and cut your expenses, but if you want to scale your business, you need to let go of some of your tasks.
You may feel like you are not ready for that, but that’s a courageous decision you have to make. Recognize that you need help.
Hire people that can help you with your tasks, so you can focus on more important things that will help your business grow.
It’s okay not to be perfect. Sometimes getting things done is better than making things perfect. Identify one thing that you need to focus on and take things one step at a time. Go back to the main goal of your business from time to time as it will guide you in making your decisions.
